Formations Guide: Command Your Armies in Last Z
In Last Z: Survival Shooter, Formations are the core of your military operations. They represent groups of Heroes and Troops tasked with defending your base and executing missions across the wasteland. Upgrading your Formations is essential for increasing your march size and combat efficiency.
- Troop Capacity: Higher levels allow you to take more troops on each mission.
- Combat Bonuses: Upgrading grants significant Attack and Defense buffs to all troops in that formation.
- Base Power: Like all structures, Formations contribute to your overall power ranking.
Unlocking Your Formations
You can manage up to four independent Formations, allowing you to run multiple missions simultaneously. Each is unlocked based on your Headquarters (HQ) level:
- Formation I: Unlocked at HQ Level 1
- Formation II: Unlocked at HQ Level 6
- Formation III: Unlocked at HQ Level 12
- Formation IV: Unlocked at HQ Level 19 (via Elite/Monthly Pass)
The Fourth Formation
Unlike the first three, the Fourth Formation is obtained through the Elite/Monthly Pass. Once activated, it appears next to your other formations, providing an additional vehicle and slot for Heroes and Troops, effectively increasing your tactical options by 25%.

Upgrading Formations primarily costs resources. Note that Formation I Level 2 has a special requirement: it requires the Bar Level 1 to be built.

Formations Q&A
A: Yes, every formation has its own dedicated vehicle, allowing them to be dispatched on different missions at the same time.
A: Upgrading the Formation level directly increases the amount of troops that can be assigned to it. Hero skills and research also provide additional capacity.
A: The 4th Formation is usually tied to a Monthly Pass subscription. If the pass expires, you may lose access to that specific march slot until it is renewed.
A: To upgrade Formation I to Level 2, you must first build the Bar (Lvl 1). Most other levels only require standard resources.
